Rubaiyat, Brazilian food
It is always a good idea to try something new and taste new flavours. At Rubaiyat they serve typical Brazilian cuisine, and this means you can savour its food and have a caipirinha (or a few of them) to go with it. The place is nicely decorated and spacious enough to have a good time this Christmas.
If you are ready for a big and fulfilling meal, then this is the perfect place, because at Rubaiyat they master the grill like nowhere else.
Restaurant guests can choose dishes from the menu or order special group menus that start at 39 euros. Rubaiyat is located at Calle de Juan Ramón Jiménez in the neighbourhood of Chamartín, close to the metro stop of Cuzco.
La Gastro de Chema, fine dining at a fair price
La Gastro is a rustic style restaurant, managed by a chef from Valencia called Chema Soler. He has been working in the food industry for a long time now, and this makes dining at this restaurant absolutely worth your while. Decorations inside the restaurant are modern and pleasing to the eye, and you will immediately be attracted to the menu that consists of sophisticated tapas.
Chema is passionate about a creative and no-waste kitchen. Croquettes de pisto (with a vegetable filling), foie with oxtail and caramelized onions or mushrooms with a truffle sauce and candied bacon are just a few items on the restaurant’s menu. Excellent quality dishes at this price will be hard to find anywhere else…
There are several Christmas menus you can choose from, and prices range from 36 to 46 euros. The address is Calle Barco in the neighbourhood of Malasaña-Universidad, close to the metro stops of Gran Vía and Callao.

La Lorenza, an established Galician tavern
This is a Galician tavern that has existed for a long time, although it has been remodelled and modernized by its owners.
You will find the tavern on Calle del Doctor Piga in the neighbourhood of Lavapiés, and the atmosphere is nice and informal, which will immediately make you feel at home once you have crossed the threshold.
The menu is full of tapas and classic dishes, made with excellent quality ingredients from the north of the country. They serve a special Christmas menu for 35 euros, and it includes a little bit of everything, from their Russian salad to ham croquettes, pig’s ears from the grill and a burrata salad.
They even accept reservations for large groups, which means you will have the whole place – and staff – all to yourself.
Gioia, exceptional Italian cuisine in the city centre
Gioia is one of the best options in town if you are a true Italian cuisine lover. There is no need to look any further, because you have found the ideal place to enjoy your Christmas dinner. Gioia’s artistic cuisine draws much attention, with delicious risottos (brought in directly from Italy), traditionally prepared, fresh pasta and a black truffle that just adds that special touch to a dish.
Not all restaurants are open on Christmas Eve, so check well in advance, but Gioia is open on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The restaurant also offers special tasting menus at the best price (35 euros without wine pairing and 50 euros with wine pairing). Gioia is located at Calle San Bartolomé, in the neighbourhood of Chueca.
