Madrid is built at the highest altitude in comparison to all other capitals in EU. Therefore, in the month of February weather can get very cold and chilly, especially at nights. Although you would not probably see rain when visiting, it makes sense to wear your warmer jacket if you go out in the evening.
However, if you plan to attend the concert of Backstreet Boys performing on February 19, at the Palacio De Vistalegre, a historic bullfighting arena renovated into a sports venue and multipurpose building, you should dress accordingly and take the metro line 5 or buses 34, 35, 247 to arrive there, without worrying much of anything, including the weather.
For more information, you can browse the official site of the Palacio at: http://www.palaciovistalegre.com/
Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson will take care of the rest as the boy band of the 90s promises to offer an unforgettable experience to nostalgic fans of “I Want It That Way” and “As Long As You Love Me” accompanied with other loved songs that hit the billboards during the 1990s and early 2000.
Tickets are already available starting at a price of €50. For details on the world tour and their performance in Madrid you can visit their page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/backstreetboys
If you are in Spain’s capital for celebrating Valentine with your other half, you probably want to taste the unique Spanish cuisine, spending more of the nights at a cozy restaurant or one of the hundreds cafes Spaniards prefer gathering.
However, Madrid, in the month of February is synonymous with contemporary art. Four fairs (ARCOmadrid, ArtMadrid, Flecha and JustMad3) and more than 130 exhibitions in 36 centers provide a diverse artistic option for all tastes.
To spread this offer between residents and visitors of Madrid, the city joins a campaign entitled “Mirarte en Madrid,” which includes the distribution of 100,000 copies of a map with information of the activities offered by fairs, galleries, art centers, museums and exhibition spaces between 15 and 19 February.
ARCOmadrid, one of the most prestigious fairs in the world, will take place between the 15th and 19th of February at Feria de Madrid (IFEMA). This edition features the Netherlands as guest country.
Art Madrid, 16-19, in the Pabellón Crystal Cottage, continues with its focus on Spanish contemporary art and emerging artists. It is a fair in which 50 Spanish and international galleries will present their collections.
Meanwhile, this year Flecha is expected to open its doors on the 3rd of February, remaining at Arturo Soria Plaza shopping center till February 26, lasting for the second time in a row longer than the usual 4 or 5 days on previous events. This twenty-first edition hosts about 500 works from different countries and techniques including painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, photography, cinema, and more.
Finally, the offer for the art lovers also includes JustMad3, which will take place between February 16 and February 19 at Hotel Silken Puerta America. JusMad3 will present the collection of about 70 galleries.
