Romantic ways to spend Valentine’s Day 2020 in Madrid
A romantic evening must at least include a lovely stroll and watching the sunset together, according to us. You can do this at the Temple de Debod or Parque de Retiro, but there are more options, like Parque del Capricho and the Botanical Gardens.
The Gran Vía, which is in the district of Centro, can also be considered a possibility. You can go for a romantic shopping spree and then watch the sun go down from atop one of its great buildings.
Visit the Gourmet Experience or the Círculo de Bellas Artes’ terrace, and enjoy a magnificent view over the city. A day at the spa with relaxing pools and a massage is the perfect way to eliminate stress and experience unique moments with your partner.
The Organic Spa is a luxurious wellness centre in the district of Salamanca, and it includes body massages, facial treatments and much, much more for you to enjoy. Another bathhouse is Hammam Al Ándalus, with its Arab baths and massages right in the centre of Madrid.
Inviting your loved one to lunch or dinner is not always a very unique way to spend Valentine’s Day together, but you can make it special by adding another activity at the end of the evening.

Let’s start with suitable restaurants in Madrid for the occasion. There are many lovely places you can go to for Valentine’s Day, and most of them offer a special menu. La Contraseña is a unique restaurant in the district of Chamberi, more specifically at Calle Ponzano.
The interior is warm and welcoming, and the restaurant serves innovative dishes that will surely surprise you. La Cuchara is another successful restaurant in Madrid, and they have a special Valentine’s Day menu for couples.
There is also La Malaje – an Andalusian tavern with a great reputation – and Horcher, which is one of the oldest restaurants in the Spanish capital. They have a classic lounge, that has been visited by many famous people, like Dalí and Sophia Loren.
As you can see, there are many options to choose from. It all depends on your taste and what you and your soul mate will enjoy most on this special day.
For anyone who loves seeing movies on a really big screen, there is no better way than to continue the evening at the Cineteca. This cinema is in Matadero, in Madrid’s Arganzuela district, and it is the perfect location for a nice walk after the movie has ended.
This cinema is a bit different from your classic cinema, because it schedules other movies than commercial cinemas do, with a very interesting programme. This is where you can enjoy alternative movies and master tapes that you don’t often get to see in other cultural centres.
We think we have done our best to give you a few options on how to spend your ideal Valentine’s Day, and, of course, you can always combine activities.
Be sure to enjoy this memorable day from the first moment you open your eyes until it’s time to go to bed. Are you prepared for another day full of new experiences and romance?
